A brief overview:
Stella-Jane Odoemelam, started her career in Theatre as a designer, at a young age where she worked for the award winning theatre & Youth theatre company Dream Arts, and designed for Fashion Shows and Exhibitions, since then Theatre has been an integral part in her work as she studied Art and design at University of the Arts London. Finalising in the pathway Theatre Design craft. She immersed herself in sculptural elements with a keen eye for graphic design, intrigued in different ways of conveying emotions and people's perceptions. It was with this that she found her true passion for working as a Theatre Designer, on musical theatre, site specific theatre and film. As well as designing and making, she has also collaborated in site specific theatre productions as an actor and performer, in 2011 she appeared and took to the stage as an actress in the Cochrane theatres off West End Production of ‘Oh what a lovely war’, at a young age she also worked in collaboration with the National youth theatre for the Olympic opening ceremonies, working as an costume maker, It is with this that she considers herself not only a Theatre designer but a visual artist, constantly intrigued and open to the world of theatre and film.
Her academic career then ensued to her studying Theatre and Performing arts at Wimbledon College of arts - University of The arts London, where she was able to take her theatre work to another level, exploring her love and passion for culture, historical events, and the exploration of contemporary and revisionist design.
Since graduating, she’s then worked as a Theatre designer, Associate and as assistant for major leading events and organisations, internationally, globally and in association, from The Rugby World Cup, Notting-hill Carnival, Pride to the Tricycle Theatre, National Youth Theatre, New Diorama Theatre and Jackson Lane Theatre and more pertinently as a commissioned Artist, Designer-Curator, Curator, Facilitator, Designer on various Theatre projects and productions, and as a practitioner in FE and HE courses and independently for various clients of the range.
She currently works in London as a Theatre Designer & Practitioner .
